Takeda no Komoriuta (Lullaby of Takeda) is s beautiful Japanese folk song which tells the story of a young girl. The girl was forced to leave her family and village to go to work for a rich family on the other side of a mountain. As the girl worked carrying a baby on her back she thought about her family. Missing them she sang this song to comfort herself.
Playable by any standard of band this has proved to be very popular with audiences.
England’s oldest known Christmas Carol.
This atmospheric arrangement takes the Carol back to it’s original form and melody which is slightly different from the modern day version.
Written as the signature tune for Phillip Hunt’s BBC radio programme, with its energy and drive it is a perfect opener for your concert or entertainment contest programme.
Recorded by Black Dyke on the CD Essential Dyke Volume VI.
