Legend says that a Mermaid can live on land if she finds love. She is able to take her brush, Comb and mirror with her. Discovering any of those would result in her being banished back to the sea forever.

While she slept her lover discovered her mirror, therefore she returned to the sea losing him forever. With tears in her eyes she could see her lover in the distance and dreamed of what may have been.

It has been said that on a clear, calm night she can be heard singing this song, The Mermaid’s Lament.

This atmospheric melody depicts the Mermaid staring at the shore longing for her love.

With a beautiful solemn melody and simple effective accompaniments it is a must have for your concerts.

Written for the Bandamonium 2023 contest held in Devon for the Okehampton Excelsior Band’s concert programme. The Mermaid’s Lament (Nature’s Soul No.2) combining the sounds of the Irish Whistle and Brass Band was very popular with the audiences.
