Kojo no Tsuki Soloist Part
“Kojo no Tsuki” (Bb Cornet Solo)
In 1901, Rentarō Taki composed “Kojo no Tsuki” for his students. Bansui Doi then wrote the lyrics. His words vividly evoke ruined castles. They remind us of Japan’s wars in the 1860s.
Yaeko Yamamoto, a brave female warrior of the time, wrote a poem on a castle wall before a siege. Doi found great inspiration in her poem.
Kevin’s arrangement for Bb Cornet beautifully captures the haunting atmosphere of this melody. It’s simple but very subtle accompaniments add real atmosphere to the melody.
